Public records obtained by Records Raccoon’s Higher Education correspondent show that in Spring of 2025, the University of Wyoming’s Vending Services collected $64,162.50 in revenue from laundry. UW states that there are approximately 2,000 beds in the Legacy halls, which were the only halls open during the Spring 2025 semester. The University collected roughly thirty-two dollars per resident based on that figure.
Records Raccoon asked several residents for comment in the laundry room. “It adds up fast,” said a freshman in White Hall who asked not to be named. “You can’t exactly opt out of laundry in the dorms.” Another resident said she thought the price was fair. “They’ve got brand new machines. Water and power do cost them money. I don’t love paying, but it’s not too much.”
